About Outdoor Activities

Outdoor Activities exists to answer one question quickly: what is worth doing outdoors, near me, on a date I can actually make. Most event sites are organised around venues or genres. We organise around the activity, the place and the date, because that is how people actually decide.

What we cover

Fifteen activity categories across all 50 states: hiking, camping, cycling, fishing, kayaking, beaches, national parks, family activities, outdoor sports, festivals and general outdoor events, plus four time-based collections for things happening near you, today, tomorrow and this weekend.

Where the listings come from

Live event data comes from the Ticketmaster Discovery API. We query it from our own servers, cache the responses to keep the site fast and stay well inside the rate limits, and then add the structure: categories, destination guides, breadcrumbs, maps and internal links between related events.

Because the source indexes ticketed events, some genuinely outdoor pursuits — a public trail, a free beach, a ranger talk — do not appear as listings. That is what the destination guides and the blog are for.

Editorial independence

Ranking is determined by date, distance from your search and the API relevance score. Advertising and affiliate relationships never change the order of results or which events are shown. Ad placements are in-flow only — no interstitials, no pop-ups and no anchor units.

Corrections

Event details are supplied by promoters and can change late. If you spot something wrong, tell us and we will chase the source. For anything about a ticket you have already bought, the seller named on your confirmation is the right place to start.
